While most divers would love to travel to tropical international destinations for dive vacations, the economic recession has caused many divers to rethink their travel plans and consider less expensive alternatives closer to home.
In his presentation "Diving the USA," David Prichard will cover all of the major US diving destinations in not only the continental United States but most of its territories around the world. David, and his wife Lily Mak, are contributing editors to Dive Training and Wreck Diving magazines and published in other dive/travel magazines as well. They have traveled to many of the destinations covered in the presentation when they are not teaching scuba diving.
David also invented the Vari-Fit Snorkel Keeper which is sold at many area dive centers and at his website at www.enchantedsea.com. So come join us for our July meeting!
It is time to sign up for one of our funnest events of the summer. Tubing Trip! It is July 24-26.
We will be catering in dinner for Saturday night. Please sign up in the event registration if you plan to be at the dinner. (If you signed up for the house you are already signed up) We will have to give our final count for dinner buy july 10th. Soooo please sign up by then or you will be very hungry.
We will meet at 10:30 sharp at The Tube Haus Saturday July 25th to get everyone on the river.
Due to the nature of alcoholic beverages we are asking for adults only to stay at the house. EVERYONE is welcome for Saturday Dinner. You must sign up and let us know how many will you bring.

At our June Meeting, Flippers had a very entertaining speaker. Mike from Kayakpower.com came and discussed Kayaking. We were surprised at all the places around us that they plan trips to. They even wait until we have a lot of rain, and the rivers are flooded, and then they go white water kayaking. They also plan trips to the surrounding states such as Oklahoma, Arkansas and Colorado. Mike has offered to do a class for us on a Sunday TBA for $25 off the usual rate. We really want to plan one to learn all the basics. Please let us know if you are interested in this. They go every month to White Rock Lake and clean the park areas, then they go have some kayaking fun. This would be a great opportunity for us to do some community service and play on the water once we have all learned how to kayak. Thanks to Mike and his staff, and all who were there last night.
This weekend, Flippers Dive Club went to Lake Ray Roberts to clean up for Earth Day. We cleaned up an area that the Park Rangers found when the water level went down. We found lots of old bottles, a sleeping bad with furry friends living in it and a toilet! Jeff tried to unearth the toilet, and was unsuccessful. With some of the things we found, it looked like an old barn or something. The Park Rangers were so nice there, they brought down trash barrels and all we had to do was bag the trash and they picked up all the bags and heavy glass and everything else we found. We got done so quickly that we then went to the marina and walked the shore line, and it was the cleanest lake shore in Texas we have ever seen!
The Park Rangers do have a diving project for us this summer! They were thrilled that they have a diving group interested in helping out. More on that later.
